Chapter 1: TrenchesChapter 1: Trenches
Andrew woke up in haze from a dream. He was still half asleep when he heard some one yell incoming. He came to just as an explosion went off close to him.
“What the in the name of the mother land was that?”
He yelled as he rolled onto his knees. It was so loud that his ears were ringing and he could not hear very well. Another soldier came up and helped him to his feet. The soldier yelled something at him that he could not make out and pointed down the trench. So the soldier started running down the trench and Andrew followed after him. Another explosion blasted near by knocking Andrew to his knees, he quickly got back up and continued to run down the trench. He came to a dug out where the other soldier was waiting.
“What took you so long?”
“Sorry, had to dodge another explosion. My ears are still ringing. You will have to speak up. What are these?”
“I don’t know. They have been lobbing us with catapult ro
“Did you hear about the robbery today?”
“No, what happened?”
“Well, two guys popped in demanding money.”
“Did the get away with anything?”
“No. They just happened to pop into a store loaded with heavily armed guards.”
“Why were the guards there?”
“Well, from what I heard there was some sort of death threat written to the owner of the shop. Turned out it was some prank that a kid had thought up the previous night.”
“So did the kid some how know that the robbery was going to be taking place?”
“No, not in the least, the two guys just decided to do it on a whim today. Ran out of money for drinking so they decided to get more.”
“Although, I should be glad, my own son was at that bank, it just sickens me to know what could have happened.”
“Where is he now?”
“I some times can’t tell with that boy.”
